Hello, I'm Matt H.

Hi! I’m Matt​,​ owner and Managing Director behind Sydney Harbour’s most thrilling red jet-boat experience. Boating has been in my blood for as long as I can remember. Growing up​,​ I spent my younger years water skiing​,​ heavily inspired by my great-uncle who drove the Hegarty Ferry on Sydney Harbour and lived to 103. He was the spark that led me to the water​,​ paving the way for over 21 years of hands-on experience across Sydney Harbour and The Whitsundays. Holding both a Master ＜24 and MED 2 qualification​,​ I started here back in December 2011 as a Skipper - delivering high-speed manoeuvres​,​ 360-degree spins​,​ and rapid stops. Over the years​,​ I worked my way up through Operations Manager and General Manager before stepping into my current role as Managing Director. Today​,��� I lead our team across every department - whether that’s helping Reservations organize large charters​,​ chatting with guests on the wharf​,​ or rolling up my sleeves for jet boat maintenance. My background spans vessel management​,​ logistics​,​ WHS compliance​,​ IT systems​,​ and business development​,​ all driven by a deep commitment to safety​,​ guest experience​,​ and team leadership in high-pressure environments. I’m genuinely passionate about Sydney’s vibrant tourism landscape and take immense pride in steering a team that brings so much energy to the harbour every day. Outside of work​,​ my focus is on my two young daughters​,​ and I can’t wait until they’re finally tall enough for their very first Red Shark Thrill Ride!
