Our Story - How it all started ...

Travel, not going with the flow

I’ve always believed that travel was never about going with the flow.
That’s why, like so many others, I chose independent travel over traditional group tours.
Traveling freely gave me flexibility and control,
But over time - it also made me realize what was missing.

Too often, I saw the scenery without truly understanding the place.
I walked its streets but missed the stories of the people who lived there.
And beyond that, there were the hidden corners -
the ones never mentioned in guidebooks or shared on social media.

In search of something deeper, I joined day tours and local experiences.
Yet, because of language barriers, large groups, and rigid itineraries,
what I took away was still only the surface.

It turned out I wasn’t alone

Over time, I realized this wasn’t just my experience.
It was a shared frustration among many travellers.

Years spent living far from home reshaped the way I see the world.
I came to understand that what truly makes a place meaningful is rarely found in famous landmarks.
More often, it’s in everyday streets, overlooked details, and local stories -
the moments that reveal a place as it truly is.

That led me to ask myself:
What if we could explore in a language we’re comfortable with,
guided by locals who genuinely know and care for their home,
would travel become something different?

That question became the beginning of Localmingo

I wanted to build a platform shaped by locals themselves,
one that invites travellers to slow down,
to walk alongside local guides,
and to discover what quietly exists but often goes unseen.

Because slowing down -
and paying attention to the small details around us
isn’t just a way to travel.
It’s a way of seeing the world.
Perhaps even a way of living.
