Overview

This isn’t your average history tour - and it’s definitely not just a pub crawl. Explore Sydney’s most colourful neighbourhood through the tales of convicts, larrikins, and local legends, all while relaxing in a few of its iconic historic pubs. Smart stories, beautiful buildings, and a very Australian way to learn the past. This is a walking tour with pub stops - expect about 2.5 hours of Sydney’s most colourful characters, dodgy dealings, and unexpected true tales, served up in some of the city’s oldest watering holes. We cover about 2.5km of walking, with a few hills and heritage buildings along the way. Quick Etiquette Tips: Yes, drinks are included - but this isn’t a pub crawl gone wild. 🚶‍♂️Pace yourself It's a story-laced stroll, not a sprint to the bottom. 🍻 Respect the pubs and locals These spots are full of history…and people trying to enjoy their night. 👥 Stay with the group Sydney’s lane ways are great for stories, terrible for losing people. 💧 Hydrate - There’s water too! 🥪 Eat something beforehand it’s a tour with drinks, not a dinner with stories.

Additional Information

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes - cobblestones + drinks = balance required
  • Bring photo ID — for entry into licensed venues (some play it by the book)
  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing - raincoat over umbrella recommended
  • The Rocks is beautiful — but it’s not exactly wheelchair-friendly. Expect uneven cobblestone streets, narrow lane ways, and some steep hills or steps.
