Overview
Step away from the city and spend three days experiencing a quieter side of Western Australia, where forest mornings, limestone caves, Margaret River wine country and evenings around the campfire become part of the journey. This 3-day, 2-night South West camping adventure is designed for travellers who want to experience more than sightseeing. Along the way, visit places such as Busselton Jetty, Lake Cave and the Margaret River region, enjoy time among vineyards and forest landscapes, and return each evening to a simple outdoor campsite where the pace naturally slows down. Camping is part of the experience rather than simply the accommodation. Guests are encouraged to take part in setting up tents, organising the campsite and preparing meals together. Evenings are spent outdoors with dinner, conversation and, when conditions allow, a campfire and clear South West night skies. Mornings begin simply, surrounded by the forest before setting out again for the day. The campsites used are genuine outdoor camping locations with basic facilities. Depending on the site, facilities may be limited and hotel-style conveniences such as hot showers, electricity or private bathrooms may not always be available. This is intended to offer a more authentic Australian camping experience while still travelling with the support of an experienced local tour team. The journey covers approximately 800 kilometres through the South West and combines coastal scenery, caves, forests, local produce, wine country and outdoor living in one compact experience. First-time campers are welcome, but this experience is best suited to travellers who are comfortable participating in camp life and are open to spending two nights close to nature. For those who want to see Western Australia beyond the city, this is a chance to slow down, take part, and experience the South West not just as a visitor, but as part of the landscape for a few days.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Pick up from Perth CBD
We pick up near by hotels, backpackers and apartments in the city, Northbridge and Crown Hotel in Burswood with few meeting locations. We set off from Perth CBD, where our friendly driver-guide greets you with a smile and a comfortable minibus ready to take you south.
Busselton Jetty
After a scenic drive, our first stop is the charming seaside town of Busselton, the northern gateway to the South West. Here lies Busselton Jetty, a 1.84-kilometre masterpiece of timber and history - the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere.
Shelter Brewing Co.
Take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk, breathe in the crisp sea air, or simply watch the waves lap gently against the pylons. For lunch, we'll enjoy a delicious meal at Shelter Brewing Co., Busselton's most celebrated beachfront restaurant and brewery. The entire building is a modern industrial glasshouse - wide open spaces, soaring ceilings, and panoramic windows framing the Indian Ocean just metres away.
Potter Gorge Campground
After lunch, we leave the ocean behind and journey into the heart of the forest, where the air grows cooler and the scent of eucalyptus thickens. Potter Gorge is a hidden gem nestled deep within Wellington National Park, embraced by towering jarrah and marri trees. Just a short walk from camp lies the Wellington Dam, where gentle breezes ripple across the water and birdsong fills the air. This is a place where time slows down - a true retreat from city life. Facilities here are simple but well maintained: clean toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and open spaces perfect for relaxing under the canopy. At night, with no light pollution, the Milky Way reveals itself in full splendour. (Depending on group size and availability, we will stay at Potter Gorge Campground or another campsite of a similar standard.)
Day 2 - Forest Awakening & Lake of Wonders
Wake up to birdsongs and fresh forest air. Wake up to the sound of birdsong and the first light peeking through the trees. Enjoy a hearty campsite breakfast prepared together, perhaps also with the sound of a nearby river or the gentle rustling of leaves overhead. After breakfast, you can take a light stroll to explore the natural surroundings - maybe spotting kangaroos, kookaburras, or colourful parrots in their habitat.
Lake Cave Discovery
Next, we journey to the mystical Lake Cave, hidden beneath ancient karri forest. As one of the most enchanting limestone caves in the Margaret River region. Descend 325 steps into a cool, mirror-like chamber where stalactites hang like chandeliers and the famous Suspended Table seems to float above the still water. This breathtaking natural wonder is one of Australia's most photogenic caves.
Margaret River Wine Region
We then visit a renowned winery in Margaret River, where vines stretch over gentle hills and the air is scented with eucalyptus and grape leaves. Enjoy lunch amid the vineyards. For those interested, you can (self-finance) a wine tasting to experience Margaret River's famous cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay.
Light Bushcraft
In the afternoon, we'll return to the campsite for a slower, more personal pace. This is your time to truly connect with the forest. Guests are free to relax under the shade of jarrah and marri trees, explore the nearby trails, or join our guide in light bushcraft activities - simple, beginner-friendly skills that bring you closer to nature. You might also choose to unwind by the lake, read a book in the fresh air, or chat with fellow travellers as the afternoon sun softens through the trees. As the forest grows quieter, a warm sense of calm settles over the camp - a rare kind of peace that modern life often forgets.
Day 3 - Morning Forest Farewell
The final morning greets you with soft sunlight and the quiet charm of the bush. After a self-prepared breakfast at the campsite, we'll pack up our gear, making sure to leave no trace behind. On the way back to Perth, we'll stop for a relaxed brunch at a local café (own expense), the perfect way to wind down the trip.
Return Journey
We'll return to Perth CBD in the afternoon, bringing this refreshing camping adventure to a close - but the memories of starry skies, campfire warmth, and hands-on experiences will last much longer.

Plan B
All bookings are accepted on a request-to-book basis and are not confirmed until accepted by the Operator through Localmingo. Bookings should normally be made at least 14 days before departure. Requests made within 14 days are subject to the Operator’s approval and availability. For customer cancellations made 14 days or more before departure, 10% of the total booking amount will be charged and 90% refunded. Cancellations made less than 14 days but at least 7 days before departure will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before departure will ordinarily be non-refundable. No refund will ordinarily be provided for no-shows, late arrival, failure to join the Tour or voluntary withdrawal for reasons unrelated to the Operator. Customer-requested changes are subject to the Operator’s approval, availability, supplier conditions and operational feasibility. Amendments within 7 days before departure will not ordinarily be accepted unless specifically approved by the Operator. Any approved change may be subject to supplier charges, additional costs or non-refundable expenses. The Operator will make reasonable efforts to operate the Tour according to the published itinerary. However, camping locations, national parks, attractions, roads, activities and third-party services remain subject to weather, fire conditions, safety, accessibility and availability. Where reasonably necessary because of severe weather, bushfire or fire risk, flooding, road closure, campsite closure, national park restrictions, government direction, supplier cancellation or other circumstances beyond the Operator’s reasonable control, the Operator may change the order of visits, timing, route, campsite or activity; shorten or omit a stop; or provide a reasonable alternative. Such reasonable changes do not by themselves constitute cancellation of the Tour. If a campsite becomes unavailable or unsuitable, the Operator may arrange an alternative campsite in the South West region of reasonably comparable nature and standard. The exact campground or campsite is therefore not guaranteed. If weather, fire restrictions or safety conditions make camping at the planned location unsafe, the Operator may relocate the camping arrangements, modify the affected part of the itinerary or implement another reasonable solution in the interests of passenger safety. If an individual attraction or activity becomes unavailable, the Operator will first try to provide a reasonable substitute of broadly comparable nature, experience or value. Where a reasonable substitute is provided, no refund will ordinarily apply solely because the original activity was unavailable. If no reasonable substitute is available and the affected activity included a separately identifiable ticket or third-party cost, the Operator will make reasonable efforts to coordinate a refund limited to the actual unused and recoverable amount. Third-party attractions, campsites, national parks, activity providers and other suppliers remain subject to their own operating, cancellation and refund conditions. The Operator cannot guarantee that a third-party supplier will provide a refund, and any refund will be limited to the amount actually refundable or recoverable after applicable supplier fees or non-refundable costs. If the entire Tour cannot be provided for reasons attributable to the Operator, the Operator will first attempt to provide a reasonable alternative arrangement. If no reasonable alternative is available, the customer will receive a full refund of the applicable Tour amount paid, subject to Localmingo’s payment and refund process. If severe weather, bushfire, natural disaster, widespread road closure, government restriction or another event beyond the Operator’s reasonable control prevents the entire Tour from commencing, the Operator will first try to arrange a reasonable alternative departure date or time. If the customer cannot accept the alternative arrangement, any refund will be determined after applicable cancellation charges and according to the cancellation and refund conditions of relevant third-party suppliers. Non-refundable campsite, attraction, activity or other supplier costs may be deducted. Such circumstances do not automatically create an entitlement to a full refund. Passenger safety takes priority over the published itinerary. Nothing in these conditions excludes any non-excludable rights under Australian Consumer Law.
