Itinerary

  • The Surf Coast & Morning Brew

Your day begins with a seamless pickup from your Melbourne accommodation. Easing out of the city, we head straight for the Surf Coast. Sip your morning coffee with the scent of the sea nearby in Torquay or Anglesea, watching early-morning surfers chase rolling waves.

  • Split Point Lighthouse & Memorial Arch

We capture the iconic, postcard-perfect photo beneath the historic Memorial Arch - a site steeped in local history and wartime pride. From there, gaze up at the striking white beacon of Split Point Lighthouse standing watch over the cliffs. As the road twists and turns, we’ll stop to marvel at the endlessly stretching turquoise waters from Teddy’s Lookout and Cape Patton.

  • Midday in Apollo Bay

We break for a relaxed lunch in the charming seaside town of Apollo Bay. Take your time to soak up the laid-back coastal vibe, breathe in the fresh ocean breezes, and enjoy some of the region's excellent local dining options.

  • Maits Rest Rainforest & The Twelve Apostles

After lunch, we step away from the coast and into a cool, green sanctuary. The Maits Rest rainforest walk is a world of absolute tranquility, surrounded by ancient fern gullies and towering eucalypts. Next, the grand finale: feel true awe as the world-famous Twelve Apostles rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean, glowing golden against the waves.

  • Loch Ard Gorge & The Return Cruise

Wander down into the towering cliffs and soft sands of Loch Ard Gorge, where the tragic and captivating story of Victoria's most famous shipwreck comes alive. Settle back into the absolute comfort of the Mercedes for a smooth, relaxing return journey to Melbourne.

End Point

Direct drop-off back at your accommodation, or an alternative inner-city location of your choice.

Additional Information

  • Wear Comfortable Footwear: Walking shoes suitable for short gravel paths, stairs, and lookouts.
  • Bring a warm jacket or windbreaker (the rugged Southern Ocean coast can be beautifully breezy).
  • Bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, refillable water bottle, camera, spending money.
  • Parts of the Great Ocean Road are winding. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend bringing tablets. We drive at a comfortable pace with stops to stretch.
  • Most of the highlights (lookouts and the 12 Apostles) involve only short walks from the vehicle. Longer walks are optional.

Plan B

✨ Elevate your journey with an exclusive aerial perspective. If you wish to upgrade your experience, please let us know when booking: - 15-Minute Twelve Apostles Helicopter Flight: Take to the skies over the Shipwreck Coast for a thrilling look at the limestone stacks from above. - The Ultimate Helicopter Return: Instead of driving back, enjoy a breathtaking 75-minute private helicopter flight from the Twelve Apostles directly back to Melbourne, cutting travel time and capping off your day in spectacular luxury. 🌦️ Weather Contingencies: The coastline can be dramatic in all conditions! Even on cloudy or misty days, the views are spectacular. If visibility is very low, we can adjust the timing to maximise your chances of clearer views.
