    Overview

Just a short, scenic drive north of Auckland city, your journey leads you deep within the protected boundaries of Tāwharanui Regional Park. Guided by Chris and/or his amazing teammates, this night expedition takes you through one of Auckland’s most important ecological strongholds. As dusk settles, you will embark on a slow, deliberate walk through native bush and open coastal habitats to track and observe the elusive North Island brown kiwi in its natural home. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will help you listen for calls, spot movement, and uncover subtle signs of wildlife activity. Far removed from city lights, Tāwharanui also offers exceptional dark skies for stargazing across a breathtaking southern panorama, with the occasional magical bonus of ocean bioluminescence on favorable nights. Safe, educational, and deeply immersive, this experience offers an unforgettable look into New Zealand’s living nightscape. Highlights: 🐦 Kiwi Spotting: Discover the elusive endemic North Island Brown Kiwi in their natural habitat. ✨ Southern Stargazing: Marvel at star fields, planets, and constellations in a protected dark-sky environment. 🌌 Nocturnal Ecosystems: Witness the night world come alive with guidance from expert local naturalists. 🌊 Ocean Bioluminescence: Spot glowing shorelines and luminous ocean life (when conditions permit).
