Itinerary
Into the Australian Bush: The Gibberagong Track
Begin the day immersed in authentic Australian bushland, far from the crowds. This peaceful walk winds through eucalyptus forest, mangrove wetlands and tranquil creekside landscapes and rainforest, offering a beautiful introduction to photographing Australia’s unique textures and light. Soft morning light filters through the trees, ideal for capturing atmospheric landscape images, intimate nature details, and birdlife. Along the boardwalk, photograph saltwater mangroves, reflections on still water, and the intricate ecosystem beneath your feet. Wading birds such as herons, ibises and spoonbills are often seen feeding in the shallows, and with luck, an azure kingfisher may flash through the mangroves. A relaxed start to the day, perfect for refining composition and learning how to work with natural light.
Coffee in the Bush: Mount White
Enjoy excellent coffee and fresh pastries in a peaceful bush setting surrounded by native gardens. The elegant grounds provide opportunities for natural detail photography, from delicate native flowers to reflections across the dam, often visited by black swans. A chance to pause, review images and prepare for the next location.
Hawkesbury Lookout: A Private Panorama
Access a secret vantage point on private property, overlooking the vast Hawkesbury River system, where sandstone cliffs and winding waterways stretch to the horizon. This expansive landscape is ideal for wide-angle compositions, layered depth, and atmospheric perspective. The elevated position allows photographers to experiment with scale and framing while capturing one of the region’s most impressive natural vistas, without the crowds found in more heavily visited locations.
Capture Australia’s Most Iconic Wildlife, Privately and Naturally
Spend time photographing some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife in a relaxed natural environment. Kangaroos, wallabies and other native animals roam freely, allowing for natural, unhurried photography opportunities away from crowds. Enjoy a private koala encounter with a resident koala, offering a rare opportunity to create intimate portraits while learning how to work with soft light, natural framing and expressive detail. While wild koalas are rarely seen in this region, this close-up experience allows you to capture images that are simply not possible on most tours. Photograph behavioural moments, environmental compositions and personality-filled portraits, while learning simple techniques to help you capture wildlife with confidence. For many guests, this becomes one of the most memorable and quietly special photographic moments of the day.
Beachside Lunch then Photograph Australia’s Wild Coastline
Enjoy a relaxed lunch overlooking the surf at a scenic coastal location known for its natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere. Surfers are regularly seen gliding across the waves, adding a subtle human element and a sense of scale to the coastal landscape. After lunch, explore rock platforms, tidal pools and sweeping ocean views. The textures of sandstone, patterns in the rock formations and ever-changing coastal light provide a rich variety of creative photographic opportunities. Pelicans and white-bellied sea eagles are often seen along the shoreline, offering additional moments to capture wildlife in a dramatic coastal setting.
Flying Fox Colony (Seasonal)
Visit a hidden valley home to thousands of grey-headed flying foxes, one of Australia’s most fascinating wildlife spectacles. Photograph these remarkable animals as they hang clustered in the canopy or move through the forest. This secret location provides a rare opportunity to observe and photograph a significant colony in a natural setting. Availability varies depending on seasonal feeding patterns.
Coastal Headlands and Ocean Vistas
Continue north to dramatic coastal viewpoints featuring sweeping ocean scenery, sandstone formations and expansive horizons. During whale migration season (May to November), humpback whales are often seen travelling along the coastline. Elevated headlands provide excellent vantage points for observing and photographing these majestic animals as they move through open water. The combination of sea, sky and rugged landscape creates powerful photographic compositions.
Somersby Falls Rainforest Walk (Seasonal)
A gentle walk leads through lush rainforest to a series of cascading waterfalls framed by ferns and ancient rock formations. After rain, the falls are particularly photogenic, with soft flowing water ideal for experimenting with longer shutter speeds. The shaded forest environment offers opportunities to photograph moss-covered rocks, filtered light and native wildlife such as water dragons and lyrebirds.
Sydney Harbour Long Exposure Finale
Conclude the day capturing one of the world’s most recognisable skylines from a carefully selected vantage point on Sydney’s north shore. As evening light fades, photograph the illuminated Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House reflected across the harbour. Learn simple techniques for long exposure photography, creating smooth water reflections and dramatic night images. A memorable creative finale and a beautiful way to complete your Australian visual story.

Plan B
Rain or Shine Operation: This tour runs beautifully in all weather. Rain brings out an incredibly rich eucalyptus aroma and a deep moodiness that makes the Australian bush look intensely cinematic. Many native animals also become far more active in cooler, damp weather. Seamless Alternative Routing: In the event of severe weather, dangerous clifftop winds, or extreme heat, your guide will seamlessly transition the day to comfortable indoor or covered creative alternatives. This includes utilizing indoor wildlife pavilions, visiting premium local craft distilleries, regional boutique wineries, artisanal chocolate factories, or taking highly scenic alternative coastal drives to capture the wild Pacific ocean.
