Overview
Step away from the coast and journey inland to Eungella National Park - the "land of the clouds" - home to Australia's longest continuous stretch of subtropical rainforest. Renowned as the best and most reliable location in Australia to spot wild platypus in their natural habitat, this 8-hour eco-certified small-group day tour takes you deep into the Clarke Ranges. Traveling through the picturesque Pioneer Valley, your adventure includes a stop at the historic Pinnacle Family Hotel to learn its quirky local history and enjoy a iconic Pinnacle Pie, as well as a stop at Eungella Chalet to view a rare Flying Fox colony. At Broken River, observe completely wild platypus foraging freely in pristine rainforest creeks with no fences, handlers, or feeding shows. Your expedition will be led by D'artagnan or one of his expert, accredited EcoGuides, who provide deep insights into local rainforest ecology and native wildlife behavior. Capping off the afternoon with breathtaking panoramic views at the Sky Window Observation Deck, you'll savor complimentary white wine, cheese, and nibbles on the return journey back to Airlie Beach. Backed by the 2026 Best of Queensland Experiences Gold Award and capped at just 10 guests, this immersive tour delivers an authentic and intimate connection to regional Queensland's natural wonders. 🦦 Wild Platypus Encounters: Spot wild platypus in their natural, unfenced habitat along Broken River. 🥧 Historic Pinnacle Pie Stop: Stop at the historic Pinnacle Family Hotel in the Pioneer Valley for lunch. 🦇 Flying Fox Colony & Sky Window: Visit the Eungella Chalet lookout and the scenic Sky Window Observation Deck. 🍷 Wine & Cheese Experience: Savor complimentary white wine, cheese, and nibbles on the scenic return trip. 🌿 Award-Winning Eco Quality: Fully eco-certified small-group tour (max 11).
