Overview
Most visitors to Airlie Beach focus exclusively on the Coral Sea, but this tour turns south to explore a side of tropical North Queensland many miss. Leaving before dawn, we journey to Cape Hillsborough National Park where wild Eastern grey kangaroos and wallabies naturally emerge from the bush to forage along the shoreline as the first sunlight hits the water. With no fences, feeding shows, or handlers, these wild animals freely approach within half a metre. Your experience will be led by D'artagnan or one of his passionate accredited EcoGuides - who share expert insights into native wildlife behaviors and local ecology. After the wildlife encounter, you’ll head to a sheltered rainforest spot to cook and enjoy a hands-on Australian Drovers breakfast together, featuring bacon and egg damper rolls, French press coffee, and classic Vegemite. Awarded the 2026 Best of Queensland Experiences Gold Winner and fully Eco Certified, this eco-adventure balances authentic nature with warm local hospitality, returning you to Airlie Beach by 9:30 AM with the rest of your day free to enjoy. Highlights: 🦘 Up-Close Wild Encounters: Watch wild kangaroos and wallabies forage along the beach at sunrise within half a metre. 🍳 Hands-On Drovers Breakfast: Help cook bacon and egg damper rolls paired with hot French press coffee in a scenic rainforest setting. 🌿 Award-Winning Eco Tour: Guided by accredited EcoGuides with dual eco-certifications and 2026 Best of Queensland Gold recognition. ⏰ Early Return: Back at your Airlie Beach accommodation by 9:30 AM, leaving the whole day ahead of you.

Additional Information
- Suitability: Not suitable for people with mobility impairments. Strollers are permitted. Infants must sit on laps during vehicle transport.
- Essential Items to Bring: Light jacket (essential—early mornings at Cape Hillsborough are significantly cooler than Airlie Beach), comfortable walking clothes, sturdy walking shoes, camera, water bottle.
- Strict Code of Conduct: To protect native wildlife, the following are strictly prohibited: flash photography, feeding or touching animals, flashlights/torches, insect repellent spray near wildlife, making loud noises, and using external speakers.
- General Policies: Smoking, alcohol, drugs, intoxication, and unaccompanied minors are strictly forbidden.
Plan B
Wildlife Variation: Kangaroos and wallabies are 100% wild and free-roaming. While sightings are exceptionally reliable, animal movements cannot be guaranteed. In cases of altered animal behavior, your EcoGuide will focus on broader national park ecology, coastal tracks, and native flora/fauna tracking. Weather Contingency: In the event of heavy rain or adverse weather, sunrise viewing moves to covered coastal vantage points, and the Drovers breakfast will be prepared in an undercover park shelter within Cape Hillsborough National Park to ensure guest comfort and safety.
