Overview
Experience the very best of Auckland's east and west coasts on this comprehensive 10-hour sightseeing adventure. Start your day with a hike up Mt. Eden (Maungawhau) for 360-degree city views, then drive out through lush native rainforest in the Waitakere Regional Park to visit the iconic black sands of Piha Beach and the serene Karekare Falls. After a morning immersed in nature and a boutique wine tasting of 5 local wines in Kumeu, enjoy time for lunch before heading across the harbour to Auckland's North Shore. Explore a crater lake, an ancient lava flow along the Takapuna coastline, and historic military tunnels built into the North Head volcano, and enjoy an ice cream or coffee at the beach. We are a small, passionate local team dedicated to personal, friendly, and conversational travel. Your tour will be hosted by Mike, Harriet, Jerome, or one of our small team of expert local guides - all ready to share rich local lore, geology, and history while answering any question you have! Capping off the day with sweeping views of the Auckland city skyline, you can choose between a direct hotel drop-off or staying in historic Devonport for dinner and taking the ferry back at your leisure (ferry ticket included). Tour Highlights: 🌊 West Coast Wonders: Experience Piha's famous black sand surf beach and walk the rainforest trail to Karekare Falls. 🌋 Volcanoes & Fossils: Explore Mt. Eden's crater, Lake Pupuke’s crater lake, and rare lava tree molds in Takapuna. 🍷 Wine Tasting: Enjoy a complimentary boutique wine tasting at Soljans Estate Winery in Kumeu. 🛡️ North Head Fortress: Walk historic underground military tunnels carved directly into volcanic ash. ⛴️ Flex Finish & Ferry Included: Option to stay in Devonport for dinner and take the ferry back to downtown Auckland.
