Overview

Discover the remarkable fiery past of New Zealand's largest city on this immersive 5-hour journey through Auckland’s unique volcanic field. Travelling in comfort in an air-conditioned van, you'll embark on short, easy walks to the summits and crater rims of four famous dormant volcanoes: Mt. Eden, Mangere Mountain, Mt. Wellington, and One Tree Hill. Along the way, enjoy breath-taking 360-degree panoramic views of the city skyline, dual harbours, and surrounding islands, while discovering native flora, fauna, and local history. During the trip, we’ll also pause at an award-winning local bakery where you can grab a coffee and a classic Kiwi meat pie or other snack (own cost). We are a small, passionate local team dedicated to personal, friendly travel experiences. Your tour will be hosted by Mike, Harriet, Jerome, or one of our small team of expert guides - all ready to share their local knowledge and stories and answer any question you have! Please note that all volcanoes visited are inactive. Tour Highlights: 🌋 4 Volcanic Peaks: Walk the crater rims of Mt. Eden, Mangere Mountain, Mt. Wellington, and One Tree Hill. 🌊 Achilles Point & Harbours: Admire sweeping views of the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto Island, and Manukau Harbour. 🗣️ Rich History & Culture: Learn about Auckland's fascinating volcanic geology alongside early Māori and colonial history. 🚐 Small Group Comfort: Enjoy an intimate, conversational atmosphere with personalized attention from your local guide. 🚢 Seamless Pickup & Drop-off: Stress-free transfers from central Auckland hotels, cruise ship terminals, or Auckland Museum.

Additional Information

  • What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a camera, and weather-appropriate rain gear.
  • Accessibility: Not suitable for individuals with severe mobility impairments or wheelchair users due to unpaved trail surfaces and short summit walks.
  • Operation Policy: Runs in all weather conditions; please dress appropriately for the day's forecast.

Plan B

In the event of heavy rain or severe high winds that make summit crater walks uncomfortable or unsafe, outdoor walking times will be reduced. Additional sheltered scenic drives, historical storytelling inside vehicle viewings, and indoor exhibition points will be substituted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
