Itinerary

Arataki Visitor Centre (Waitākere Ranges)
Begin your journey westward at the gateway to the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park. Marvel at panoramic views stretching across the rainforest to both the Manukau and Waitematā harbours, learn about native flora and fauna, and admire traditional Maori carvings.
Piha Beach & Lion Rock
Visit world-famous Piha Beach, renowned for its dramatic black volcanic sand, surf breaks, and giant Lion Rock standing tall on the shoreline. Take a stroll along the beach, explore scenic lookouts, or relax by the ocean.
Muriwai Gannet Colony & Tasman Sea Coast
Head north along the wild coast to Muriwai Beach. Walk along the cliff-top boardwalks to view hundreds of gannets nesting on rugged sea stacks as crashing waves roll in below. Please note that the gannet colony is seasonal, with birds generally present from August to March. From mid-April to July, the gannets may not be present, but visitors can still enjoy the stunning beach and coastal scenery.
Optional Stop – Kumeu Winery Lunch (Custom Extension)
If you choose the 2-hour extension, stop in the historic Kumeu Wine Region for a vineyard lunch and local wine tasting before returning to Auckland.
Return Drive to Auckland
Conclude your tour with a smooth, relaxing drive back to your drop-off location in Auckland.

Physical Fitness: Travelers should have an easy to moderate physical fitness level. Includes short walks along unpaved beach sand, wooden boardwalks, and slight inclines up to lookout platforms.
What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, camera, windbreaker/jacket, hat, sunscreen, and water. (Feel free to bring a towel if you wish to dip your feet in the surf!).
