Overview
Step back in time and discover how Queensland's capital grew into the vibrant river city it is today. Led by me, Tiffany, Brisbane local and passionate storyteller, this small-group walking tour takes you on an immersive journey through 200 years of history. We will meet at the iconic Lion Statues outside Brisbane City Hall and set off to uncover the people, massive events, and grand ambitions that shaped our city. What makes this walk truly unique is that we won't just talk about the past - we will see it. Along our route, we'll hold up rare, historical images and compare them directly with the modern streetscape standing before you. From grand heritage buildings to striking modern skyscrapers, you'll see Brisbane's dramatic transformation come to life right before your eyes. Together, we’ll explore historic arcades, the old Regent Theatre site, secret laneways, the lush City Botanic Gardens, and hidden architectural treasures that most visitors walk right past without noticing. A major highlight of our walk is an interior visit to St John's Cathedral - the Southern Hemisphere's only Neo-Gothic cathedral - where we will admire its breathtaking architecture and incredible craftsmanship. To keep you refreshed along our 6km route, I’ll provide a complimentary bottle of water and a traditional Australian ANZAC biscuit, an iconic local treat with its own fascinating wartime history. We will finish our journey at the famous Brisbane sign at South Bank. Once we wrap up, I’ll happily share my personal, curated insider recommendations for the best things to see and do, hidden gems, and some of my absolute favourite local cafés, restaurants, and bars to help you enjoy the rest of your stay!
