Itinerary
Numbung National Park
It’s a scenic drive north out of Perth headed to the Nambung National Park. An early start ensures we maximise the day and beat the heat (and the crowds) to explore the Pinnacles before the WA sun gets too hot. Our 4WD capabilities will take us off the beaten track and right into the Pinnacles Desert where we’ll explore the 4.5km driving trail. You'll then get the opportunity to roam at your own pace and walk among thousands of surreal limestone formations that rise dramatically from the golden sands. Learn how these ancient formations came to be with a visit to the Pinnacles Discovery Centre or pick up a souvenir from the gift shop.
Turquoise Coast
Next it’s time to find a relaxing spot for morning tea, depending on the day’s weather and local conditions, we’ll choose one of the region’s beautiful secluded beaches to park up on. Cara will organise hot tea or coffee, you can enjoy a biscuit or two while you take in the sights and sounds of the beach around you. You’re welcome to grab a deck chair, dip your toes in the water, take a stroll along the sandy beach, or simply unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Lake Thetis
Our journey continues on, taking us to the Lake Thetis Thombolites. These ancient rock-like structures are formed by microbial communities and are among the earliest signs of life on Earth, dating back over 3.5 billion years. As you stroll along the easy boardwalk trail, you’ll get a close up look at these living fossils and find out what makes them so special.
Cervantes Lobster Shack
Enjoy a relaxed lunch at this iconic 'Small Town Famous' coastal eatery. Fresh caught Western Rock Lobster takes centre stage, served up with an ocean view. Lunch options can include fish and chips, 1/2 a dozen oysters, chilli mussels, salads with prawns or octopus. Try the big bucket of prawns or a modern twist on the classic lobster with dishes like Lobster sushi, spring rolls or tacos. Non-seafood, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available to suit all tastes. Lobster upgrades available.
Lancelin Sand Dunes
In the afternoon, we head south to the vast white sands of the Lancelin Dunes, where you can choose your adventure. Grab a sand board and ride the dunes, or kick back and take in the stunning views of endless sand meeting sea and sky.
Sun Downers
Before our day concludes, open up a deck chair and sip on a local brewed cold beer, a refreshing gin and tonic infused with local botanicals, or opt for a chilled glass of non-alcoholic Australian squeezed orange juice. It's then a relaxing 1.5-hour drive home arriving in Perth around 5pm. Thoughtful pacing, scenic stops and local stories shared throughout, this tour offers the perfect balance of nature, culture and connection.
End Point
Perth CBD or a complimentary drop-off to your CBD hotel/accommodation
Additional Information
- What to Bring: We highly recommend packing a camera, comfortable walking shoes, a sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a light jacket (coastal breezes can be cool), and a reusable water bottle.
- Beat the Crowds & Heat: We recommend an early departure time. Starting early ensures we experience the magic of the Pinnacles Desert in comfort before the large tour buses and peak daytime heat arrive.
