Itinerary
The Port Phillip Bay Loop: A Sample Cruising Blueprint
This itinerary is a suggested guide. Because this experience is 100% private, we can easily add, remove, or swap stops on the fly to match your group’s exact interests and available time.
The Melbourne Sports Precinct Drive-By
After picking you up, I’ll introduce you to the smooth ride of the '56 Chevy by heading straight for the sporting heart of the city. We’ll do a classic drive-by along Olympic Boulevard, cruising past Melbourne’s legendary landmarks - including the mighty MCG, Rod Laver Arena, and AAMI Park - letting you soak in the electric atmosphere of the world's sporting capital from the comfort of a classic.
Botanic Gardens Birdwood Avenue
After crossing the Yarra River the tour takes a slow drive up and around the Botanic Gardens area with sights to the general parkland, Shrine Of Remembrance and the various ornate entrances to the gardens themselves. A stop for photos and a quick explore are easily done.
The Grand Prix Warm-Up
From the stadiums and parklands, it’s a quick, seamless glide over to Albert Park Lake. Here, we’ll take the Chevy for a thrilling driving lap around Melbourne’s scenic F1 Grand Prix Circuit. It’s the perfect mix of motorsport history and natural beauty, offering spectacular views of the city skyline framing the water as we gear up for the coast.
The Beach Road Cruise
Roll the windows down, put on some classic tracks, and hit the famous Beach Road. This stretch is pure visual joy as you glide past Melbourne’s most affluent coastal suburbs, tracking the water's edge heading south.
Bathing Boxes & Coastal Headlands
We’ll pull over using public beachside parking for a few quick, classic photo stops. Snap some pictures of the vibrant Brighton bathing boxes, then stretch your legs near the dramatic cliffs of Half Moon Bay where you can grab a quick coffee or ice cream by the shore.
Seaside Piers & Maritime History
On the cruise back, we track through the lively St. Kilda foreshore with a stop and possible walk at the base of the famous pier, the true heart of Melbourne's vivid bayside.
Return route
The tour completes with a final stretch of beach road to Port Melbourne and return to the city centre via St. Kilda Road and the arts precinct with crossing the Yarra River via the famous Princess Bridge.
End Point
Returns directly to your original pickup location, a central CBD point, or a drop-off outside the Royal Botanic Gardens gates to continue your day.
Plan B
Because this tour is focused on seaside views, John keeps a highly adaptable approach to the route. If the bayside weather takes a turn, there's no need to worry—John will work closely with you to seamlessly pivot the drive on the fly.
