Explore Melbourne on foot using its intricate network of laneways and historic shopping arcades, as well as its extensive streetcar network. View the original site of Melbourne's settlement, with its historic warehouses. Visit beautifully restored grand old buildings from the boom years of the gold rush, and more recent spectacular architecture. Walk along some of Melbourne's famous laneways that are filled with vibrant cafes and shops, perhaps seeing a street artist at work. Walk the "Paris end" of Collins Street with stately trees and beautifully preserved 19th-century streetscape and view Parliament House and Treasury Building, built when a brash young colony was oozing in the wealth of the Gold Rush. Stop for a coffee, lunch, or a drink at one of Melbourne's many cafes or bars. Start and finish at your hotel, or other central location. This tour can also start in the afternoon and run into the evening. The itinerary can be customised to meet the traveller's specific requirements.
