Kia ora! I’m Michael. I spent the first chunk of my career in Mechanical Engineering​,​ systems development​,​ and technical writing - which basically means I’m obsessed with how things work​,​ how processes improve​,​ and how to solve tricky problems. Eventually​,​ I realized the ultimate problem to solve was how to build the absolute perfect day out in Auckland! So back in 2016​,​ I set up my volcano exploring tour business. When I’m not hosting travellers​,​ I’m usually on massive global road trips - like clocking 24​,​500 km through Spain and Morocco​,​ or driving a little Honda Jazz across Central Europe for 99 days straight. I know what makes travel special: skip the rigid​,​ mega-bus scripts and just have a genuine yarn with a local. Today​,​ our small team is made up of myself​,​ my partner Harriet​,​ our awesome guide Jerome​,​ and a tiny crew of passionate local experts.
